The purpose of the competition is to recognize outstanding talent and provide an invaluable learning and performing experience for all applicants. The Competition is underwritten by J. W. & H. M. Goodman.

These Finalists will perform Live Auditions on Saturday, February 25, 2017, between 9:30 and 4:00, at the Palo Alto Art Center. Each Finalist will receive detailed instructions by email.

The live audition performance must consist of the same piece that was submitted on CD with the application. Each finalist must provide his/her own accompanist to play the piano reduction of the orchestra score. Three Xerox copies of the piano score with measures numbered at the beginning of every line are to be supplied to the Judges. The judges will ultimately select as many as seven winners. Winners will be announced by March 13, 2017.

These winners will perform their solos with the Palo Alto Philharmonic at our Family Concert on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 3pm in Cubberley Theater.

Rehearsals for this concert will be at 7:30pm in H1 at the Cubberley Community Center on April 24, May 1, 8, and 15, with the dress rehearsal on Thursday, May 18th, 2017 in Cubberley Theatre.

We would like to thank all of our 2017 CMC applicants for their submissions, and in particular we would like to recognize the following applicants for the excellent audition recordings they submitted. We regret that, in our current format, we are only able to hear two dozen Finalists in a live setting.
