A Message from Music Director Lara Webber:

One of the most remarkable features of the Palo Alto Philharmonic is its relationship with Lee Actor, our resident composer. It is rare for a community orchestra to have a resident composer and even rarer for that composer to be one of such distinction and depth.

If an orchestra is to be a living, breathing artistic force in the community, one of its most important jobs is to commission new works, and our audience plays a critical role in this process.

Since 2001, the Palo Alto Philharmonic has commissioned and premiered 12 fantastic works from Lee Actor, the most recent being Concerto for Two Flutes and Orchestra (premiered in April 2022).

Joining together to collectively support and experience the premiere of a new symphony for the first time is a rare opportunity to grow together through this uniquely beautiful symphonic art form.

The Palo Alto Philharmonic invites you to be part of history and help us fund this exciting commission.

We hope you make a tax-deductible donation and join us next April for the premiere of Symphony No. 4 by Lee Actor.
