Videos created by our musicians

We hope you are all as safe and well as can be during these challenging times. We miss making music with you all, and we want to do what we can to remain connected while we are unable to rehearse together and perform, both for ourselves, and for you, our friends and family.

On this page, we share links to some videos created by our musicians over the past few weeks:

  • Music Director Lara Webber sings "I've Heard an Organ Talk Sometimes," from the "Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson" by Aaron Copland, accompanied by her husband, Julio Friedmann.

  • Palo Alto Philharmonic violinist Corrie Dunn switches to guitar for a cover of James Taylor's "Blossom."

  • Palo Alto Philharmonic timpanist Richard Gillam plays a Johann Sebastian Bach two-part invention (#8 in F major, BWV 779) on marimba.

  • A recording of Amazing Grace, which former Palo Alto Philharmonic clarinetist Nancy Coffey created and uploaded to YouTube to honor her mom, Betsy Coffey, who passed away on April 17, 2020. Nancy writes "Perhaps others may find it comforting as they celebrate the lives of those whom they have lost in this difficult time."

  • A downloadable recording by former Concertmaster Heidi Kim, in which she discusses her role in the Palo Alto Philharmonic and then performs a short movement from Partita No. 3 by J. S. Bach.

  • A video of trumpet section excerpts that Guy Clark and Laura Shea-Clark created and posted to YouTube, including excerpts from Mahler Symphony No. 1 and Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra.
